love

The shirt I am wearing today is a perfect representation of love.  Since today is my wedding anniversary (15!), why not speak to longevity in the language of clothes?

I was made in the 70’s and so was this collared, pink, polyester dress shirt.  (I am wearing it today under a bright short sleeved pink sweater.)  It found me at a thrift store many, many years ago.  I tend to categorize my clothing and the top category is an item that has been tested and is still is my stand-by, still is a foundation to many outfits, and in all honesty, I may think about grabbing in a fire.  I currently plan to have this shirt until the end.

Why do I love it?
It is adaptable and makes an outfit better
It is classic and the perfect color
It is playful and unique
Why do I love him?
He is flexible and patient
He keeps me grounded and calm
He is funny and clever
Oh, and he is a cutie pie as well.

tucked

I strategically tucked in my shirt today and this is a new thing for me. I identify as someone who does not typically tuck. I mean, who doesn't internally chuckle a bit at the old "dad-types" that wear a polo shirt tucked into jeans (with a belt) while they are on vacation?

Anyway, I am expanding my horizons by narrowing my waist. It looks cute, feels adult, and makes it quite cumbersome each time I visit the gals' room.

poem

Jeans material, you are made of
Everyday I would wear you if I could
Almost to my knees
Need to eat some breakfast
Summer!
Know that work
today is going to be a challenge
I need to start mentally packing for my upcoming vacation
Really close to my bustop, there is this one lone flip flop
This is what I am wearing – my jeanskirt.

bff with my bf

I love these ballet flats (bf).  Besides being cute and comfortable, they make my larger feet look dainty and graceful.  It is a shame how often I wear these during my work week.  Good thing that my feet always smell like roses.

On a random side note, when dressing today I noticed that I do not have much green in my wardrobe.  I wonder if I need to be concerned?  So I did some quick research on what colors mean.
Here is what one website says (http://www.digitalskratch.com/color-psychology.php):
“Green is the color of nature and health. It represents growth, nature, money, fertility and safety. Green is a relaxing color that is easy on the eye and has a healing power to it. It is often used to represent anything having to do with health.”

Another website (http://suite101.com/article/the-meaning-of-color-in-fashion-a41726) states:

“A calming and refreshing color, green represents nature. Green is easy on the eye, and studies suggest that it may even improve vision! The color of money, dark green is masculine, and suggests wealth. Related to this message of prosperity, medieval brides wore green to symbolize fertility and fruitfulness.”

Being sentimental after my birthday, I think that this year I may focus on a few of these things – growth, nature and health.  That seems like a good goal.  Perhaps also, I will focus on wealth. I will gloss over that fertility thing.

picnic skirt

Today’s skirt (which has pockets!) is a true retro (from Goodwill years ago) looks and feels like a tablecloth. But that is a good thing, right?

On a side note, my yogurt cup looks like it is about to burst at the seams.  I am a little concerned.

(update - the yogurt tasted sparkly, and was no good.)

Top ten ramblings of a sleepy girl

  1. Today I am wearing a fun shirt (from surprise, surprise – Forever21) that I paired with a green sweater. The shirt has really aggressive armpit holes which are not really appropriate for work (who wants to see their co-workers armpits?), but paired with the sweater it will work nicely to transition into…
  2. Tonight. It is my last day of class of my 9-month course. It will be short and sweet and then we are all going out bowling. I am excited to have my weekday nights back. Have lots of plans to do more running, reading and writing. But it may end up meaning that I can catch up on netflix.
  3. I am sore from softball even though I really did not do anything spectacular. And, I think it is unfortunate that we do not have more words for the female gender. We have guys and girls playing on our team. There should be something on par with the word "guys" for "girls". Boys and guys and men. Girls and girls and women. Just do not like the word girls.
  4. While in the shower, I could not remember if I will be turning 38 or 39. I could do the math but I would rather live with the mystery than do the complex math.
  5. This is an unique week in that it my last week at my current job. I am trying to calmly ride the waves of change.
  6. So, when walking to the bus, I saw a piece of paper that was folded up, but I could see part of the drawing. It said "CHICKEN PENIS" at the top and I could see the chicken’s head and torso. Now, I am not going to lie and say that I did not think about flipping the paper over to see the rest of the drawing. But, I did not touch it. And now it is one of my biggest regrets.
  7. I am sleepy. I had several dreams last night and the one that I remember is that we had this new house that started to develop major structural problems. It was twisting and breaking.
  8. I forget what eight was for.
  9. I should probably talk about clothes again. I broke a rule and grabbed an item out my donate-to-Goodwill pile. I am really good about thinning out my clothes herd regularly. I had the green sweater that I am wearing today in the pile for a month and it would have been donated, but I talked myself into bringing it back into the flock. Cold people like me just cannot have enough sweaters. Or, that is what I tell myself.
  10. It is sunny today and that makes me happy.
