Orange-you-glad

I have this thing where I enjoy introducing new or used (new to me) items into my wardrobe.  I find it fun and a reason to get excited about getting out of bed and going to work.   I have not yet decided if this is a problem such that I am compensating for a lack of something in my life and fulfilling it with clothes.  I do think it is important to put thought into how you portray yourself to others – the decisions about what you put on your body each day do say something about yourself.  Of course, you cannot control the response that people have; people will react to your decisions through the glasses of their own life experiences.
With that all being said, I am wearing a new orange sweater today.  Its maiden voyage!  It may be one of my new favorite finds (Sears!) and I already wonder how I have lived this long without a sweater like this.  Granted, I do have a gray/orange stripped sweater but this is waaaaay different.

I have paired with a shirt I got on sale at Gap – it is a brighter version of cammo.  I am not sure how I feel about wearing a cammo-print shirt, but this one really grabbed me in the store a few months back.  I am wearing it with my trusty yellow polka-dotted scarf and now that I am waking up a bit more, I do wonder if it is too matchy matchy in a clashy clashy way.  But I am going to go with it.  I am wearing it with navy pants and sneakers to tone down all the brightness.

So, I am not sure how much new clothes is too much new clothes.  I do a good job of combing out old clothes to give away to Goodwill or to GoodKatie.  When I get new items, it actually inspires me to get rid of things that I do not wear often.  I can finally let go of an item that is close to what I want but not exactly it.  A bit free-ing.

  1. Not too matchy-clashy or too clashy-matchy for that matter. If I might say, pairing similar color pallets with different patterns is far better than pairing similar patterns with different color pallets...think pink and blue large polka dot top with green and yellow mini polka dot skirt...no good. Point made.

    Love,

    PS-love the outfit ;)
